Mission clarification
About the two St. Catherine names
St. Catherine Orthodox Mission is the canonical ROCOR mission in Lubbock. We are distinct from the group meeting under the name Saint Catherine Orthodox Fellowship. The canonical mission church no longer meets at the 1510 Avenue X location.
Saint Catherine Orthodox Fellowship on Facebook meets at 1510 Avenue X. This is not affiliated with the canonical ROCOR mission’s website.
In an email to parishioners dated July 31, 2026, the Board of Directors of the St. Catherine Mission Nonprofit Organization (Operating on Facebook as Saint Catherine Orthodox Fellowship) announced that the organization had ended its affiliation with the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR), effective that day.
Archpriest John Whiteford, Dean of Texas and Louisiana, confirmed in September 2026 that Fr. Alexander Cordos has been suspended from serving as a priest by Bishop Spyridon.
For questions about canonical affiliation, clergy status, or the mission, please contact our acting rector and dean, Archpriest Fr. John Whiteford or the ROCOR Diocese of Chicago and Mid-America. Please check our calendar for current meeting times and locations.
